Devmon

Welcome to the Devmon project hosted on GitHub.

Introduction

  • Seeing the need for maintenance and new features, we took the initiative to evolve Devmon from its original SourceForge project
  • We’re grateful for the foundation built by previous developers and welcome contributions from anyone
  • Since GitHub Wikis aren’t indexed by Google, we created this documentation to improve visibility and accessibility

Devmon offers several key features

  • Flexibility: Through the use of templates close to a DSL, making it easier to set up monitoring for new devices.
  • Efficiency: Utilizes array programming for handling data, which helps in processing information quickly.
  • Performance: Built with Perl5 and supports multi-threading, ensuring fast alarm detection.
  • Scalability: Able to monitor over 500 devices in a minute, showing its capability to manage large networks.
  • Integration: Works well with Xymon, providing a comprehensive monitoring solution.
  • Growth Potential: We're open to adding more features and adapting Devmon to meet user needs.

Roadmap

  • We focus on community-driven improvements, especially those tagged as “enhancement” in GitHub issues.

Support

  • There’s no official commercial support, but we may help if needed.
  • Found a bug? Open an issue on GitHub—we’ll do our best to assist!

Contribution

  • Everyone is welcome to contribute!
  • Have an idea or feature in mind? Share it or develop it via GitHub issues. Devmon Issues
  • You can also improve this wiki ! We are open to anyone who wants to contribute and we will support you!

Devmon will continue to be GPL release

  • There are no plans to introduce a commercial edition or paid modules.
